Worship through service

Providence's church life extends far beyond Sunday morning. We see the ministries listed below as opportunities for the members of our local church to serve the Providence congregation and the community of Pittsburgh. Check out the list below and see how you can serve and be served. Questions? Don't hesitate to contact us!

Nursery and childcare is available for Sunday School and the morning and evening services. Care is provided by volunteers for infants through five-year-olds in three age-appropriate nurseries. To serve, volunteers must complete and provide a PA background check and Child Abuse Clearances.

Kids' Bible College

Kids' Bible College

KBC is for children ages 5–8 and is held every other Sunday during a portion of the worship service. The curriculum focuses on learning the essential facts and doctrines of God’s Word in a fun and interactive environment through videos and personal instruction.

Small groups

Small groups within Providence are a great way to fellowship with other members and attendees in the same geographical area. Groups meet monthly or biweekly to study Scripture, discuss sermons, read books, pray for one another, and often share a meal.

Youth Group

Youth group

The Providence youth group meet on Wednesday nights for fellowship, singing, prayer, and a look at God's Word. Events include two snow camps, summer missionary trips, and serving the hungry by participating in the 30-Hour Famine.

Music Ministries

The music ministry blesses the congregation each week in Sunday worship as well as in various performances through the year. The ministry includes a mixed choir (no audition required), instrumentalists, a women's vocal ensemble, and a men's vocal ensemble.

Music Ministries

Prison ministry

One Sunday a month, the Providence prison ministry group has the opportunity to bring the message of Jesus Christ to men and women incarcerated at the Allegheny County Jail in downtown Pittsburgh. A worship service is lead by these men with the main emphasis of their time together being to share the transforming Word of God.

Community Garden

Community garden

The Providence community garden welcomes all gardeners who enjoy seeding, planting, cultivating, and harvesting luscious vegetables and fresh herbs. This year, our garden architect has secured another grant that will provide us with a small greenhouse that will enable us to source those goodies earlier in the season and keep them coming later in the season! We're always looking for more volunteers to help water and harvest.

Wednesday clubs

Club programs are offered every Wednesday evening September through April for Kindergarten through 6th grade. Every week each of our club programs include hands-on Bible study just for kids, practical life application and fun crafts or activities. Not only do kids learn God’s Word—they also learn to live it out!
