What we believe

Our mission

In keeping with the Great Commission, Providence strives to be a transformed Christian community, centered in the worship of God and bearing witness to the gospel of Jesus Christ our Lord.  As Christ’s disciples, we endeavor to build vibrant lives, strong families, and a fellowship in which members care for and love one another and together seek the well-being of our city, state, and world.  By the power of the Holy Spirit, we seek to develop a vital preaching and teaching ministry aimed at drawing men and women to Christ; healing, comforting and nurturing them in the faith; equipping them for service, and deploying them effectively into all walks of life.  We are committed to discipling and encouraging every member of Providence to passionately and intentionally pursue the preeminence of Jesus Christ.

Reformed doctrine

We believe the reformers of the Protestant Reformation recovered and systematized the correct understanding of Scripture as intended by God when He inspired its human authors. It has been summarized in these five Reformed doctrines: Scripture Alone, Grace Alone, Faith Alone, Christ Alone, To the Glory of God Alone.

Reformed Theology holds that we should only include in our worship what the Bible says pleases God. This principle assures us that God accepts our worship and also keeps us free from the bias and tyranny of men. Our worship is simple but beautiful and always focuses on the glory of God through the elements of worship
commanded by Scripture.

Real life

All human beings are made equally in the image of God for the purpose of glorifying and enjoying Him forever. Though sinners in Adam, in Christ we are able to live God-pleasing lives again. We do this in all of life by trusting in His promises, obeying His commands, believing in and witnessing to His truth. In everything we seek to more and more love God and love our neighbors.

Our commitments

We're committed to know, love, and serve God by:

  • Believing in Jesus Christ as the eternal Son of God, the Lord of all creation, and the only Savior for sinners.

  • Accepting and believing the Bible as God's Word and as the only infallible authority for what we believe and how we live.

  • Living our lives in a way pleasing to God, by obeying from the heart all that He says to us in the Bible.

  • Dedicating ourselves to the Great Commission of Jesus Christ: "Go, make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you" (Matthew 28:19-20).

We're committed to love and serve the community of Robinson and surrounding areas by:

  • Welcoming and respecting every person whom God sends to our church.

  • Worshiping in a way in which God is honored and people are encouraged and challenged.

  • Gathering to study God's Word in depth, applying its truth to our lives.

  • Developing and nurturing close Christian friendships for ourselves and our children.

  • Providing meaningful opportunities for our children to grow in knowledge and love of God and neighbor.

  • Being involved in loving, Christian service to one another and to our community.

  • Reaching out to others with the life-changing love of Jesus Christ.
