PROVIDENCE PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH
1975
Celebrating five decades of God's faithfulness
On February 9, 1975, nearly 190 men and women, committed to worship and serve God according to the Reformed doctrines of Scripture without compromise, formed a new congregation of the Presbyterian Church in America. Providence Presbyterian Church was born—the first PCA congregation north of the Mason-Dixon line.
From Foundation to Future
50 Years of God’s Providence
LAMENTATIONS 3:22-23
The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.
Dates: Saturday September 13th (Dinner and Fellowship) & Sunday September 14th (Worship Service)
Place: Providence Church
Time: Not finalized yet but maybe 4-8 pm or 5-9 pm
Registration will begin around early summer (June 1st) and run through either mid July or August 1st.
-
No charge but you must register to attend the Saturday event.
-
We will need to know the number of people per group/family and children's ages when people sign up.
-
We are not providing childcare, but we are having children's activities and mementos/swag items for adults and children so we'd like a count.
Saturday evening will be a shorter length program followed by a catered dinner in the fellowship hall.
After dinner, there will be
-
Dessert and conversation in the hall.
-
Outdoor attractions possibly including bounce house, slide, corn hole, children's crafts, etc.
-
Children's activities, family-friendly but also welcoming to the entire church family--from little ones to founding members.
-
Visual displays of historic items and pictures.
One thing we are considering is asking people to write a paragraph or a few sentences about Providence memories or its significance in their lives to make a booklet. We were thinking of having people turn these in handwritten or email them to a special email. I'm wondering just now about having a spot on the registration as well where people could write some things. Is this a possibility? It's not a requirement, but it might facilitate receiving them.
Sunday's worship service will focus on God's faithfulness to Providence, and Ray will leave his current scripture text (unless of course it fits right in ;)
Ray is planning the worship service.
-
Following the worship service, we will do an entire congregation picture in the sanctuary.
-
Pam will put her camera in the sound booth. No lights or setup. Everyone turns around and squeezes in. A few clicks and we're good!

A conference on everyday evanglism
Many of us wonder how to bear joyful witness to Christ in our everyday lives. There’s no better guide than Christ’s own encounters with the lost in his earthly ministry. PCA pastor, professor, and author Dr. Phillips will speak on John 4 to uncover timeless principles that will enable us to share the hope of Christ wherever he has placed us. Then, break-out sessions and a Saturday luncheon will allow participants to continue the conversation about personal experiences and practical ways of using evangelism in our everyday interactions with others.
